Hi Alex, Just putting together a playlist to help get through the approaching Storm Eunice, which looks set to give us a challenging day here in North Devon tomorrow. Opening track is Bob Seger's Against The Wind, a huge favourite of mine! Wanted to thank you, once again, for the enjoyment that listening to the show brings- you put together such a great mix and through playing such amazing music, have really created a close community, not least giving my brother Keith and I artists and songs to discuss each week! I am actually visiting the studio of Soundwave Radio North Devon tomorrow evening (weather permitting) with a view to being trained up to do my own show. if it does all go ahead, I know I will draw on you for inspiration! Will let you know how it goes!! All the very best, Graham.

Hey Graham, Oh wow... so interesting to hear this news. I will definitely look forward to hearing your adventures in radio going forward! I'll go find out more about 'Soundwave Radio' going forward. Good luck with all the training and getting used to the studio set up :))). Thanks as always for the support & the shout-outs about the station / show. Always appreciated. Stay safe. Windy here in Gloucestershire today - but thankfully - so far - storm Eunice hasn't caused much chaos as I write this reply. Take care and all the best, Alex MTRHQ.

Hi MTR, music has been a big part of my life since the 1960s, but the output from mainstream radio these last few years has not inspired me to listen, however, MTR has changed all that, and how! The best way to describe it is like a door being opened on to a whole new world of music, giving new and very talented artists the exposure they deserve.... brilliant! Thank you MTR

Hi Richard. We're absolutely thrilled you've written to us today and to hear you've been enjoying the music we love to share so much. Thank you for taking the trouble to listen in so often 🙂 Feel free to let us know about favorite artists or people / bands / music-makers we should go explore if you don't hear them on the station. Thanks again. All the best MTRHQ.

Very pleased to have discovered Mystery Train. We listen every day and it is one of a very few stations (worldwide) that we listen to. Your content is quite good and we have discovered many new artists listening. We live in the PHL area and locally have WXPN but we very much like Mystery Train. Our only (mild) complaint is the playlist update is not as consistent as we'd like. Thank you for everything! P.J. & Barbara
Mystery Train Radio Admin Reply by: Mystery Train Radio
Hi P.J. and Barbara... Thank you for the message today. Fantastic to hear you're enjoying the station / music so much! Can I ask how you listen generally - and then I can see what the problem is with accessing up to date track information? Our dedicated mobile apps have no issues, I'm aware of a glitch (being looked at) using the website via windows which I'm hopeful will be back to normal in approximately a months time (a software error has been noted). Feel free to drop Alex a line with more info @ alex@mysterytrainradio.com if you wish. All the best.

I have never heard a radio station that plays all my favorites and a lot more that could be my favorites. Really all of it! Every little thing. I play my vinyl about 5 hours a day, and if I turn to Mystery Train Radio, i hear the same kind of music. Wow - a great experience! You make me very happy. Thank you! Rolf in Germany.

Thank you so much for the ability to stream Mystery Train Radio here in the US. I was introduced to the radio station by a friend and it is my now my favorite listening option whenever I get the opportunity. You offer a great variety of music, genres, and opportunities to learn about artists that I have not heard before as well as the ability to bask in the memories of great tunes when I hear them again - and, all without the advertising frequently on US stations. Made a donation a few minutes ago. Keep the train rolling. Susan

Hi Susan! Please thank your friend for the recommendation 🙂 We're thrilled to hear you've been enjoying the music so much! Many thanks for the kind words and for the kind donation. This will help us to pay on-going licence fees and keep this train rolling! Feel free to let us know about music recommendations going forward as we're always interested in those. Thanks again. All the best from MTRHQ.

Hi there, I've just made a small donation as I am so happy to have found your station and hope that you can keep on playing such great tracks during this difficult time. I'm listening in Kent and have been searching for somewhere that plays your sort of content. Looks like I've found a musical home at last. I will spread the word to my mates and hope they enjoy it as much as I do. Take care and keep safe. Cheers Chris Wilson

Hi Alex, thanks for all the great music- have just made a small donation because I get so much enjoyment from your shows and from listening live during the day. Makes working at home very enjoyable!! I just can't believe how you discover so much new music- there is literally something every week that I've not heard before that I love, the latest being Photo Ops and Sunset Jones. Not to mention great 'oldies' like Jackson Browne, John Lennon and Kirsty MacColl etc, lots of Emily Barker, and thanks for the reminder of Josh Ritter at Union Chapel- what a night! We've just sold our house and plan to move to Devon, where our dream is to convert an old barn into a live music venue- rest assured if the dream can come true, you'll be invited to the opening night!! All the very best, Graham
Mystery Train Radio Admin Reply by: Mystery Train Radio
Hey Graham, Thanks so much for the kind donation - and while dealing with a house move too! Having recently got our dedicated apps up and running, we're now looking at making an 'Alexa Skill' -so that will certainly help in this latest venture. Thanks again! Aaaahhh... yes... that Josh Ritter gig was wonderful aye! 🙂 I'm thrilled to hear we're managing to share new music that perhaps you haven't come across before and it's equally brilliant to hear you're enjoying the artists I know you're aware of too :). All the best with the upcoming move to beautiful Devon. Hope all goes well on this front. Brilliant to hear you plan to build a live venue!!! Exciting times. Yes... would love to attend a future gig or 3 - lol! Please keep us informed going forward. Best to you and yours! 🙂

Had the absolute fortune to be listening to music in Havanas Coffee Shop on Prestbury Road, Cheltenham, today (3 October) and an awesome stream was playing (especially ‘Ben Reel’) over their speaker system, when the announcer said “Mystery Train Radio”. I was intrigued ... who is “Mystery Train Radio”? And what a very cool name! A bit of digging on my smartphone revealed this totally unique radio station is actually based in Cheltenham - wow! I gave them a shout out on my Twitter account and got some lovely replies from the Show and new followers. I am hooked!! This is not local amateurs, this is a very slick production.

Hey Tarquin. Thanks for the messages via twitter. Brilliant to know you found us via 'Havanas Coffee Shop' today. How brilliant they were playing us in the store! We must go thank them before too long - and grab some breaky or coffee & cake. Thanks for taking the trouble to seek us out on your phone... as it happens we are launching our dedicated smartphone apps formally tomorrow. They've just been published - just search for 'Mystery Train Radio' on the Apple App Store or via The Google Play Store. Seems you found us via a smart speaker today. Anyway... brilliant to have you aboard. All the best MTRHQ.

  1. Thanks for the music tonight Alex. Please take care of yourself as you take care of your family. Ed

    1. Thanks Ed. Your email to the studio got to me late… but managed to read out the fact you enjoyed the Judy Collins track 🙂 Thanks tons for tuning in and I trust the ribs and yard bird tasted mighty fine! 🙂

    Hi

Just wanted to say “Wow!” What a brilliant station! Discovered you via the Radio Garden App by just having a look around the stations and you appeared and I just love what I’m hearing!

And I’m nearby on the edge of the Cotswolds in Evesham…

You got yourself another listener and I’ll be recommending you to my friends…?

    Andy

    1. Isn’t Radio Garden a neat app Andrew! The only problem is we find as a station it doesn’t work all the time. Service can be unreliable. See a full list of reliable apps @ http://www.mysterytrainradio.com/listen/. Thrilled you found us by chance or by searching for stations locally(ish). Thanks so much for spreading the word about MTR 🙂 Feel free to let us know about the music you particularly enjoy hearing or artists you enjoy generally. Thanks again for the message here… lovely to have you aboard! 🙂

  3. Thought I need to pass this on to you – John Kilzer passed away suddenly today in Memphis, Tennessee. John was a singer songwriter, a Methodist pastor, and a true helping hand to recovering addicts in the Memphis area. You folks in the U.K. seemed to appreciate his early rock and roll work than the majority of the USA. He was well known to Memphis musicians.

    1. Oh Ed. So sorry to hear this news! We’d only discovered John’s music relatively recently. A track or 2 is played out regularly as part of our playlist of songs – these being aired throughout the day – and I know Alex has played a song of John’s on his show. We were aware of John’s association and love for Memphis and his desire to help others in need. Please accept our deepest condolences at this sad time.
